Grateful November

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Philippians 4:6

Humbled. That is the one word that describes my past month. Through big decisions and life changing opportunities, I have been completely humbled by the Lord throughout the month of October and even the beginning of November. I attended Making Things Happen in October and the timing could not have been more perfect! MTH was a game changer for me and my heart. (A post about it is coming soon :) I promise!) Looking back at my many, many prayers about God's plans for my life, I now see how they unfolding right in front of me and I just couldn't see it. I accepted a job in a beautiful city close to home but from the very first day it was evident that this was not the position from me.

Deciding to turn down a position I had just started with no back up plan was very humbling but it also felt selfish. I could not help but think of how desperately I and so many others search for employment after college. You are taught to graduate, to take a job, and then work that job until you find a better job and so on. I felt selfish for turning down a job because my heart was not in it but sometimes you have to be selfish if it is for your happiness.

Friends, God is good. Even in the times when I felt so lost, His goodness was always there. I have been blessed with an amazing career opportunity which will begin in December. I can't wait to share more but for now I'll leave you with the name of my new city... Winston-Salem!

  1. Congratulations!! I know it's hard for people to understand now - but I went through a similar thing when I graduated. Everyone kept saying to just take a job, any job... (and sometimes you have to), but if you can wait for the right one... you should. No one (especially me) likes a job hopper... and you never want to burn bridges if you can help it. ;)
